Although we preferred discovering new places by foot, we purchased a Renfe (Spanish train company) card that allowed us to see many spots near Pola de Siero. First, we were planning to visit Madrid, but then Jana came up with an idea. She has a family friend in Bilbao, who was generous enough to let us stay at her apartment and show us the city. So, on May the sixteenth we travelled by train to Oviedo and took a three-hour bus ride to Bilbao, where Jana's acquaintance with her boyfriend awaited us. They picked us from the bus station and showed us a village near Bilbao. We visited a medieval market, tried buns stuffed with chorizo and famous dubai chocolate - yes, in Spain. To be honest, it's not worth the hype. We saw the blue sea, dangerously looking rocky cliffs and vibrant green hills. The thing that impressed us was that the stars could be seen at night, even through the light pollution.
On Saturday May the seventeenth all four of us headed to Bilbao, a famous time-honored city with diverse architecture and colours sparkling everywhere you look. We wandered through the narrow streets, past the river, Universidad del País Vasco, Guggenheim museo and metal giant spider. We even took Artxanda's funicular to see the municipality from above.
At seven pm, we said goodbye to our amazing hosts and city guides, leaving back to Oviedo. When we arrived it was almost midnight and we had to bear a few complications with finding the right bus to Pola, since there was no train, but eventually, we got to our apartment safely, happy and grateful, ready to sleep and cherish all our new memories.
